Please tell us about a project you are particularly proud of – what was the problem and how did you solve it for the customer?

This project in Devon was one of our largest domestic installations that we have designed, installed and, now, maintain. In this project, we specked for a Daikin multi-split five-port air conditioning unit for five of the bedrooms, one large ducted unit for the kitchen and another for the dining area, one single split for the office and another for the garden room. This was in an unbelievable house that was being renovated from top to bottom.

This was an existing customer who moved property and only wanted us to carry out the job. We don’t normally cover this area but he insisted and we travelled down and stayed up there until the job was completed. We previously carried out a full installation in the home in Essex and the customer was so happy with the previous service they wanted no one else installing their air conditioning system in their new home.

Because they did not own the house yet viewing the house to carry out a site survey was impossible, all we had to go on for a quote was the Rightmove advertisement. This had photos, floorplans and enough information to quote.

The only challenge we experienced was that if we needed any extra materials, we did not know the area and which wholesalers were around; however, this was sorted very quickly as we researched heavily online in advance of the project commencing.

Which products did you select for the job and why?

We have a very good relationship with the manufacturer, Daikin, as we have used their products several times before, know they have good warranties and therefore we think that they are the best products on the market and only recommend Daikin now. We even have Daikin in our own homes. The customer wanted top-of-the-range systems, the best trunking and the best materials. We only use the best brands so Daikin’s stylish units were installed, Inaba trunking, Lawton pipework and Armouflex lagging. These are premium products but, more importantly, we trust them. This meant that following the installation, we could be confident that we were leaving the customer with a high-quality system.

The manufacturers, Daikin’s products are reliable, built to last, look the best, have some amazing features, and provide outstanding performance and we know the systems like the back of our hands.

Tell us what was different or unique about this job? Why does it stand out?

As mentioned above, the planning phase was based on the house advertisement on Rightmove. Luckily, the floor plan was detailed enough for us to purchase the bulk of the products that the installation required. However, just to be on the safe side, we loaded up the van with more materials than we needed to make sure we weren’t caught short and could be prepared if anything additional was needed. If the product wasn’t required on this particular installation, we knew that we would be able to utilise it in other projects later down the line, to avoid passing on additional costs to our customer.

Once agreed, the order was placed with the main products being delivered to the site by the manufacturer. This made it easier for us and saved us room in the van so we could fit the spare materials (and our long list of Google recommendations) in.

The project took around one week to install and as this was an area we did not know, we had to go fully prepared and know where wholesalers and shops were if we needed anything, this was different. However, everything went according to plan. The customer was over the moon.

And finally, tell us what the end result was for your customer?

He was over the moon, he trusts our work, he knows how we work, he put his trust in us and we delivered. He was very appreciative of all the additional research we did ahead of the project to provide an accurate quote, source suppliers we could trust (just in case) and the fact that we bought additional products to ensure that the project could be completed promptly without any hiccups. He was so pleased that he left us a 10/10 review.
