The Heating Installer Awards 2027

Think you’ve completed a great installation? Proud of the service you provide your customers? The Heating Installer Awards is a UK trade scheme that recognises the work installers do every day, entry is completely free, and winners are announced live at InstallerSHOW, the UK’s biggest trade event for the installer industry.

Our two-part entry process is new for this year. The first part checks you meet the criteria for our awards. Once you’ve submitted this, part two gives you a real chance to shine. In the second part we ask every question the judges have ever asked us, so it’s up to you how much detail you provide. You don’t have to answer every question by any means, but to win your region, the more information you can provide the better. We hope these prompts will help you send us the information the judges want.

There are three separate categories to choose from – each one stands alone, so pick whichever best fits the project you want to enter.

Heating Installer of the Year

To win your region, we want to hear about a project you’ve worked on in a domestic setting in the past 18 months. Tell us how you overcame challenges to deliver a best-in-class solution for your customer, meeting their needs and budget, and why you chose the particular products you did, your thought process and decision-making is what will help you stand out.

What’s important:

• Tell us what budget you had to work with; and remember it’s not always about the biggest project. We’re after clever solutions that bring an install in on budget for a homeowner
• Tell us how you went above and beyond: your high levels of workmanship, the research and aftercare you supplied
• Show off the detail and thought you put into your project – do yourself proud by showing the judges what you know

HVAC Installer of the Year

Our Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Installer of the Year award is for those who have designed and/or installed a system that both heats and cools a home in the past 18 months. To enter this award you will demonstrate you’ve installed a system which manages heating, cooling and air quality together, not heating alone. To win, you’ll need to show you’re combining training and knowledge to produce a system with many components working together to deliver the ultimate in comfort and efficiency. You can enter this category as well as Heating Installer of the Year, but you’ll need to submit a different project for each.

What’s important:

• Describe your job, why you chose the products you did, and how it came together for your client
• Tell us about the planning phase and who was involved – you won’t be judged differently for using consultants rather than doing the planning yourself, if a consultant offered more detailed advice
• Tell us about the budget you were working to and what the homeowner’s original brief was to you
• We’re looking for all types of jobs, from battery and hydrogen boilers to heat pump installs which work with battery storage and solar PV and more. Think new builds or retrofits, including water saving and insulation advice. Please include your heat loss calculations
• Tell us how you solved the problems that challenged you, the decisions you made, and the end results

Apprentice of the Year

Are you studying towards a Level 3 Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician qualification, or equivalent? This is a standalone category for apprentices only, run in conjunction with The Plumber Awards. We want to hear what you’re learning, how you’re applying it to the work you do on site, and more.

What’s important:

• Tell us why you should win this award, what you’ve done that’s been outstanding this year, and why this is your year
• Whether you’re learning full-time with evidence of on-site work experience, or training on the job, we want to hear from you
• Make sure you really shout about what you’ve done to help you stand out and reach the final
