Please tell us about a project you are particularly proud of – what was the problem and how did you solve it for the customer?

Recently, we installed a 3.5Kw Mitsubishi electric single split wall-mounted system. This system was to be utilised in both heating and cooling. Our client contacted us during the winter months as he wanted an additional heating source that was efficient and stylish. The pipe run was 20m and all services contained in black Inaba Denko 75mm trunking.

The trunking run was very tricky; however, sourcing certain trunking parts directly from the manufacturer enabled us to complete the works to a very high standard. The client requested a top brand air conditioning system so we installed the Mitsubishi Zen system with built-in WiFi to give remote access.

The external part of the installation took over a day in itself; however, we aimed for perfection and the result was just that. This home was an old property with oil as its main fuel supply. However, having installed this air conditioning system, our client can now benefit from a cost-effective, efficient and stylish air source heat pump. The indoor unit also has air purification through internal filters neutralising bacteria, viruses, allergens dust and mould.

Which products did you select for the job and why?

We selected the best products on the market with UV-protected black Inaba Denko trunking while also sourcing the twisted elbows directly from Japan. This ensured the protection of the pipework lagging and cables while keeping in line with the aesthetics of the property. We used multiple different trunking parts from elbows, wall covers, couplers, twisted elbows, vertical elbows, slim duct offset and straight lengths – this helped us to ensure that all aspects of the piping, wiring and cables were protected, out of sight and weatherproofed. We sourced the air conditioning from a local supplier and our client’s preferred option was the Mitsubishi electric zen system. While we often make recommendations to the customer, we were happy to use this brand for the project as we have used them several times before and know we can trust them, and that the customer will be happy with the overall outcome of the project.

Tell us what was different or unique about this job? Why does it stand out?

For us, the attention to detail on this job was 100% due to the run of the trunking and different heights/angles. The system had a 20m pipe run with all services contained in trunking. We had multiple different air conditioning companies message us directly to say what a great job we had done, which was very flattering. But the most important part to us was the fact that the customer had a high-quality, neat, weatherproof installation. The trunking will play a big role in ensuring that the system will not suffer any accidental damage.

Looking back on the installation, we feel very proud of what we have achieved. While it was a single split system, the effort and determination of the whole team to ensure the best possible outcome was achieved for our customer. We braved the extremely cold and wet conditions to make sure the installation was completed on time and to our client’s specification. We also received some great feedback from him, which always makes you feel great!

And finally, tell us what the end result was for your customer?

This has to be one of the best installations we have carried out. The feedback from our client, other AC companies and others generally highlights how good of a job we had completed. As our client relies on oil as his main source of heating, he will certainly benefit from having an air conditioning system to provide heating in the winter and comfort cooling in the summer. Plus, as we took so much care with the piping and trunking, we know that any work not just internally, but externally too, will be protected, safe and will stand the test of time.
